Navratri or Durga Puja is a very important festival celebrated with great spirits and faith in India, which is devoted to worship Goddess Durga, a special deity able to appear in nine different forms. The etymology of the word ‘Navratri’ means ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights. Therefore, the festival is celebrated over a period of nine days, with each of the days worshiped to one of the nine forms of the Goddess Durga. On the final day called the Vijayadashami or Dussehra is observed throughout India. During this celebration, special programs, traditional music, and cultural dance are conducted to add more light and colour. People from various parts of the villages, towns, and cities gather to perform Puja at the temples.
